OVERVIEW

Hyperhidrosis

Excess sweating or hyperhidrosis, is a condition caused by over-activity in the sweat glands that is not usually linked to temperature or exercise. Areas commonly affected are forehead, underarms, hands and feet. Muscle relaxant injections are a great short term treatment for hyperhidrosis. This treatment provides temporary relief for approximately 4 months.

This is a medical regulated activity that should only be carried out at a CQC registered clinic.

Frequently
asked
questions

You will be asked to attend a consultation with one of our nurse prescribers prior to treatment, during which they will carry out a medical history check, assess the area(s) of concern and agree upon a treatment plan to suit your needs. The treatment area will be cleaned and marked up ready for treatment.  The injections are very quick, taking just a few minutes. You will then be given aftercare advice, which will also be emailed to you. Your treatment is complete.

Injections are safe and effective at treating excessive sweating. Depending on the anatomy and strength of the muscles, some people may require a higher dose injection compared to others.

A patch test is not required but a consultation prior to treatment is required to assess suitability and discuss your treatment plan.

Most patients do not find treatment painful as small gauge needles are used.

It is possible to experience some localised redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising to the treatment site. Any bruising is usually minimal, redness and swelling usually resolving within a few hours after treatment.

As with all our injectable treatments, they are only carried out by our experienced nurse prescribers.

Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen for at least 24 hours prior to treatment (unless instructed by your GP). Please avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior and where possible, attend without makeup. We also advise that you book your 2 week review when booking your treatment.

Hyperhidrosis treatment cost is £399.
